CODE

conduct

  • Students, parents and teachers are expected to be kind and respectful within our dance school.

​

  • Students are the responsibility of the teacher when in the hall, during class time only.

​

  • To maintain safety and hygiene, hair must be tied back and students should adhere to the approved RAD uniform. Jewellery is not permitted [stud earrings are acceptable]. Uniform should be named.

​

  • Parents should inform the teacher of any injury prior to the class.

​

  • All teachers in the Mc Dermott School of Ballet are quailified, hold Royal Academy of Dance registered status and are fully insured. As such they participate in mandatory Continual Professional Development. They will see to recognise and develop each student’s potential in dance and the development of the whole person as an individual.

  • All teachers and assistants in the school must adhere to the RAD’s Code of Conduct. This can be found on www.rad.org.uk

​

  • All teachers have received a statement of clearance from the Garda Clearance Unit .

​

  • It may be necessary for a teacher to make a physical correction on a student in order to assist in the understanding of a movement or exercise or to prevent injury. If you would like to discuss this further please contact the teacher.

​

  • Fees are due on the first lesson of each term. Parents of new students may pay the fee on their second lesson. Four weeks notice in writing or via email is required when leaving the school.

​

  • Teachers in the Mc Dermott School of Classical Ballet & Dance are always happy to discuss any queries parents may have. However, to make the best use of the student’s class time we would ask you to contact us outside of class time.

​

  • Students take examinations at their teacher’s discretion.
